Women dress up more than men for events

I was watching the Kapil Sharma show the other day because my mother is a big fan and we saw the episode where Huma Qureshi is there with her brother. Now you could clearly see how mug effort Huma put into dressing up. She glammed up, did her hair and wore such a pretty dress. Not that that is wrong but that is seen to be the norm. While men could come in with just a jean and a shirt, women have to be decked up fir the same thing. And in this case it looked odd how much she dressed up for an event that no one else dressed up for. Its a person's choice obviously but this happens all the time with the actresses. You can see it in every talk show and other things that has a public appearance. There is a lot of focus on what an artist especially the female artist is wearing and how she looks that sometimes everything else is forgotten. There have been so many times that people forget about the fact that the female has won a big award and keep commenting about how she looks. This is why it is important to show people in more normal clothing and wearing minimal or no make up. Because we show the boys that effort to look good can only go so far but for women it is magnified a 1000 times more.

A lot of the people are dying all around us

The more that COVID is hitting us, the more anxious I am. People around me are trying. Before all this I was just trying to make it through the days telling myself that the colleges will open soon. But the more that people are dying the more it is becoming apparent that things are getting worse. The more people that I know are getting affected, the more real this situation seems. I feel like this is important to note as the Government very recently said that the peak is over but it was only very recently that it personally affected me. And we had to stay up all night trying to deal with this loss. I am hoping that COVID goes away for sure but imagine how the world would feel if it opens up but works without the same people that used to run it. I am so scared by the thought that COVID is here to stay and will take with it most of my life.

India is going down on the hunger scale.

Bangladesh has left behind India in the newly released Hunger Index list. This is a really large downfall as it takes India closer to the bottom. India ranked 94 out of 107 countries. This makes it a country with 'serious' hunger category with all the experts blaming poor implementation of the plans that were made. Instead of getting better, the position of India is consistently falling. This data is a reflection of 4 years from 2015-19. This is a bad news because the UN had a goal to completely eradicate world hunger by 2030. But looking at the pandemic and the economic slowdown around the world, it is impossible that the situation will get better. Especially in India which is now falling behind Nepal, Pakistan and Bangladesh. This would mean that India is the most hungry state among the South Asian countries. The other countries from Asia are Korea and Afghanistan. This is honestly scary. The poor are getting worse off every day and its absolutely scary how fast everything is changing. The hinger index will only get worse

Kangana Ranaut goes ahead and talks about Depression

After Amir Khan's daughter posted a video talking about her struggles with depression as she talks about how she was diagnosed with Clinical Depression and has been learning to live with it for the last 4 years. This has garnered a lot of positive responses from people around the internet. Posted on the World Mental Health Day, Ira's video is seen as an extremely important thing to talk about. As Kangana was made aware of the video she talked about how she had the same issues at 16 when she had to function as an adult and had to take care of her acid attack survivor sister. But at the end she said that depression happens to people like Ira because they come from broken families. The truth is that there is a higher propensity to depression in youths who have had to go through a parental divorce or separation but that has not been a clear reason why. Also speculating of someone's mental health is a very rude thing. At this point I'd like to remind you that Kangana was the one who called out the death of SSR and said that people like him cannot be depressed and is now talking about her own depression. The thing is I am sure that there were a lot of difficulties that she had to face and that she might've had depression at that point in time but to make statements like drugs cause depression when the opposite is true is completely stupid. If she wants to come forward with her struggles, she should learn to respect other people's struggles as well. Depression is a deadly illness and making fun if it is in no way helping anyone.

The Tanishq add was completely okay

It was a beautiful add that Tanishq had posted recently tha showed beautiful secularity. A bride who was Hindu was made to sit for a munh dikhai and was given gifts as the bride bashfully asks her mother in law why she has been invited to such a ceremony. And her mother in kaw says even though it is not done in her religion, she knows that this would make her happy so they have planned to go ahead with it. The beautiful add would have been released and gotten a lot more love if not for a BJP party worker who tweeted that the ad is trying to make Love Jihad acceptable. Talking of how women are married into Muslim families and how Hindu men are never shown to be married into Hindu families. This led to widespread trolling like it happens in Twitter verse and this led Tanishq to takedown this beautiful ad. Even though there were a bunch of people who supported the ad and the company, the trolling led Tanishq to take back the ad campaign. This is a sad day for our secular democracy. We deserve to see more inclusive advertisements. There is a thing called Love marriage between Hindus and Muslims that has nothing to do with Jihaad but this is what we have come to.

Hollywood celebrities and their left winged agenda

In the USA people are publicly criticising the current Government and are strong against their support for the President. The US President is majorly despised in the industry and for people who do support him, they are more or less considered outsiders. There is no popular celebrity at this time who supports Trump. Rosanne main lead, just when the show was revamped, came out and called the member of the opposite party a racial slur, this led to her being evicted from the show, in the most dr*matic of manners. No real right-winged supporters exist in Hollywood. If they really are or not is another issue, but the majority does pretend to be left-winged. And all we can do is call it pretension because they do have the most money in the country and they don't do enough to make the wage gap come lower. In fact, these celebrities are the people who are selling the wh*le lavish American Dream that is making people more and more insecure.
But either way, this need to be politically correct and liberal even when it is more or less fake. These celebrities and their support of candidates is that's why seen as a negative quality because they don't really understand.

Aarogya Setu and the age of tracking

I recently watched the doc*mentary, The social dilemma, and in it, there was talk about how apps are tracking our every move and that reminds me of Aarogya Setu. Aarogya Setu is an important app in the times of corona, as it tells everyone about the people nearby them who have Corona and also gives relevant information about Corona. But as the app was released at first, there were problems in making sure if the app was safe for use as it was tracking people's habits and where they were and what they were doing. For people, who are suffering from Corona this was made mandatory so that other people could track where they are going and they could stay safe. Because of all this Aarogya Setu came under fire from various companies and people but now that it has been made mandatory, such that the companies are looking at it before admitting people and people who are travelling need to have the app guaranteed, Aarogya Setu will be a topic of discussion for long but it is true that this tracking is only helping us after all. ANd after everything we have to decide if giving out our private information is important to us or is safety important. Till companies don't walk an ethical route and give privacy a lot of importance nothing can happen.

When knowledge pays you. that is called KBC

Kaun Banega Corerpati is the most important show that shows you how sometimes knowledge does pay. Of course it is a well thought out structure where the show specifically shows you that knowledge does pay off. The reality Tv structure makes sure that a lot of sad stories as peppered in and a lot of things are done well. They choose people with whom our loyalties would lie. But unlike any other show, it is not really about extraordinary talents, this is about knowledge. This is something that we can all strive for and get better at eventually.
KBC is an important show that shows us that there is importance for knowledge as well. It is obviously true that we can never know how true all this is. And it is nice that they strategically find people who are going through a tough time. The show is not just about knowledge but also about luck. But I think the most important think is that we learn from the show. Of course the wh*le concept of gaining knowledge for money makes it a little shady, but it is still an important realisation.
The truth is that KBC has mattered and shown millions of us that knowledge is fun! And like shows that deal with dance and singing, KBC also makes superstars out of these people who knew what they were doing.

Republic Tv and the TRP game that it is playing

There was a big reveal today about how TRP is being swatched. Fake TRP is getting created by paying people to watch the TV on a certain channel or to switch the TV on while no one is at home, to the same channel to get money for the TRP increase. Republic TV along with two other channels was found to be doing this and paying other people to get their TRP up.
Now the TRP doesn't matter much in the long structure of things to us but as I found out that TRp decides the amount and quality of advertisements that we will be fed and the amount of money a Tv show will be worth. As you know every second is important and to get an advertisement that pays a lot would increase their gains. This also means that we would have better news which has been produced better with well paid qualified staff as well as great quality types of equipment. So indirectly TRP does affect a lot. SO it is important for it to be fair game but now it isn't.
It is called a well-known secret and a marketing tactic. Something like how people are known to pay off voters to get more votes. This would mean that people are getting paid to make decisions that are taken as a sample of all. Of course, during the Rhea Chakrabbaty scandal, ratings went sky high for Republic TV and it was insane the number of people who turned in to see a witch hunt. Anyway, this has led to Republic Tv calling it political sabotage against them and for all we know it is true. But you know what? This might not have happened in Delhi or in UP and that is the scariest thing of it all. I think now Republic Tv can admit that political sabotage is a real thing and if they keep denying it, they can get caught in it as well.

The other act that we should talk about

The other bill that was passed along with the farmer's bill was about Labour's bill. As you know that a lot many countries have decided to take out their anger at China by blocking trades and closing down factories that they would set up in other countries. There have been many liberal debates as to not buy clothing or things out of Chin because they employ small children. Similar with Bangladesh. These are called sweatshops, but then that is true for India as well. Even though we have laws to protect children from being harassed and put into the workforce, there is not a much better situation by any means.
Anyway, this new Labour bill has three main bills under it. The three bills---- Code on Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions, Industrial Relations Code and Social Security Code were passed in the Rajya Sabha during the same time as the farmer's bill.
And because the Fr*mer's Bill got a lot of traction, we forgot that this bill is also bad. Now the people who support BJP, as in the labour union with BJP is also against the bill. As these would make the people who are working very vulnerable to the kind of treatment that is similar to China's treatment of their labour class. As we are a better country than China, thanks to our democratic system, how are we even in the loop to do these things at all?
This would make people vulnerable to expulsion, no job security and no way to protest unfair treatment. Basically walking in the same lines as China. And I understand we are trying to capture the market that China is going to leave vacant, but this is not the way to go. I would rather have no investment than have people be treated like this.

KBC season is back and maybe this time it will have higher viewership

KBC season is back, so get your general knowledge caps ready and talk to the TV and answer questions right while shouting... I know the answer to this. I was saying this only, I can win this, no this one is not the same. There is so much to know about everything and that is exactly what I think while playing KBC. We have so less knowledge about the world. At least us normies who watch the Tv and news once a day and look at the bulletin about politics while there are so many significant things happening that become a course of history.
Why are we so bothered with politics anyway? That's exactly what KBC says. No one remembers the things that people did unless obviously, it is the holocaust. But otherwise, we just remember names and facts and not stories and details.
KBC is a really important show as well. It tells people that knowledge is important. It incentivises people who remember things and facts rather than take credit in not knowing things. Throwback to when Alia Bhatt had a great laugh over the fact that she did not remember the name of our Prime Minister.
But that is the thing, everyone who thought people like Alia Bhatt and the people who are in ruling positions are stupid and thriving will also see the true power of knowledge. KBC no matter how fake it is, it still instils the idea of learning in people and that is extremely important.

The gross displacement of justice in the Hathras case in UP

The UP Hathras case has gained media attention due to its peculiar treatment by the UP police. UP had sadly been a hotbed of conflicts, rapes, and other crimes. Now the current Government came into power calling into attention the rising rates of crime in the state and with a promise to change the system and make everything better. But instead, they are at the same rate, going from worse to worse. And even though no case is as shocking anymore, it is important to note these cases and the police's failure in being effective in solving these.
It is important to note that the police carried a gross misjudgement in their case and made it impossible for the victim and their family to get better.
The case came to light when the police said that the victim wasn't raped. The thing is the rape kit was done on the victim 6 days after the event happened. And it was taken to be a case of violence. But the thing is that these people never made any advances in the case. There was also a statement made by them which asked her to stop pretending. It is after the case gained more attention, the victim was moved to Delhi for further treatment.
The victim sadly lost her life but now the case has gotten worse. After receiving the body, the family was locked in and in the middle of the night, the victim's body was bu*ned. No scope of following rituals or even being able to touch their own daughter or sister.
But the case is much more complicated, the victim was from a lower caste background in a high caste village. So the case is about how there is still a divide in caste systems and how Dalit women are treated. The cases of violence are high against Dalit women. The victim was merely 20. Someone my age. Is this how we are planning to live? Is this the India we dreamt of? Where caste reality along with being a woman doesn't guarantee us safety nor justice.

The downfall of Kapil Sharma show

Have you been watching Kapil Sharma Show recently? And recently means the last two years. I think I was obsessed with the show when I was in school. Every Saturday and Sunday, I'd sit in front of my TV and say that I have to watch everything. I would copy jokes and his accent and voice and try and nail his delivery. Back then he was a hero. He was an ordinary guy from an ordinary family who was an inspiration to many to follow their dreams. But a lot has changed since 2015 or before to now. There are better comics out there and shows that are more interesting to the youngsters. Kapil also did not at all change his ways. His show is still filled with fatphobic and misogynistic jokes. There is also the fact that there are a lot of jokes that are being stolen by the show.
And the much-loved skits are bad! Just plain bad. There is nothing new in them. And if all fails, Kapil thinks being fatphobic and mean with his terrible sex jokes would work.
I used to love this man, but he didn't improve himself. The show is still the same. It has the same jokes and it has the same characters. One of the best characters were thrown out by Kapil. Someone who used to so humble and nice is now a proud angry assh*le who can't take jokes. Is this the kind of idol we want to turn to? No. But there are still people turning in because the modern stand up is in English and Hindi which is a little weird for the people in our family. Also, these fatphobic jokes are normalised so people still keep watching. Do you know what is funnier than Kapil Sharma show? Arnab Goswami and his news channel.

News or a comedy show, why exactly?

The other day I started watching TV late at night and was searching for some basic news. Unlike at 9 pm or 10 pm, there were no bulletins and most news channels were playing special content about something or the other. I was browsing through channels and landed on Republic TV.
Arnab Goswami was on and he was talking, naturally, about the Sushant Singh Rajput case. So I started watching it because I really wanted to watch what everyone is going so crazy about. Arnab and his news channel get enough TRP and money to be producing quality TV and yet they fall back into cheap tricks.
I really don't understand Arnab's need to shout about the issues that he is talking about. The adage "Empty vessels sound more" is the one that I remember all the time when I open that news channel. I think there is a way that one talks. And I don't understand why shouting is the ultimate option that they take every time.
I was watching the news channel and after a while of shouting and feeling like no news channel in this country is worthy of being called a news channel anymore.
But after a while, I started laughing because the events were so bizarre and the reporting was way worse. I am so glad I tuned into this channel now. Because what will I do with anger? It just hurts me and affects me. But the laughter, I can keep. Isn't it better to laugh at this than get angry? Because they won't change their stance or reporting based on public reaction, but we can change our reaction towards them. I say this well aware that a lot of us are still considering this as serious reporting. I really hope you find your kind of news somewhere else and let some way for serious news.

The drug issue and Deepika and why it doesn't matter

A friend was disappointed about how Deepika's name came out in this case of drugs and she said that she didn't think that Deepika would do such a thing after she has been through mental health problems. And I think that is a completely valid point. Many people who suffer from mental illnesses get addicted to drugs pretty easily when they are in a bad place. They get really dependant on these drugs and start getting worse and worse. But the truth of the matter is who are we to judge?
It is already slippery slope when you are vulnerable as someone who is suffering from mental illnesses and then if we add up the wh*le risk about how the wh*le industry tries to pry on these vulnerable people because of their issues is also tragic. So what can be done?
Basically someone like Deepika is someone to look up to as an agent who opened up conversations about depression and therapy and how it is important. But then that doesn't change the fact that she is also an adult who makes her own choices and we don't know her. We know her public persona and that is extremely different from who she is in reality. There is no way to know who she really is, so to judge someone based on their persona. No matter how close we feel to these stars we no nothing about them to judge.

Indian media vs American media and how both are harmful

Indian media is majority rightist because corporations are always hungry to find the politicians and pay them so they can make things better and the current Government, triggering as they are towards certain communities, news channel are busy supporting them. Remember back when all news channels were criticizing the government? Those were the good days!c Because that is exactly what the media's job is to criticize. If I want to hear the good things that the Government is doing I could turn to Doordarshan. Also, it doesn't fall down to the levels that these popular channels are falling to. Most of them have great language skills as well so it doesn't seem as cheap as the levels that these channels are falling down to.
On the other hand, the American media talks about liberalism and there is probably only one channel Fox and Friends that is supportive of Trump and still they find a lot of people who look at it. But then the majority hates the Government and sometimes they go too far.
I'm actually not sure what I want. I guess proper caricature artists and people who criticise should be able to say whatever they want. but the news should keep a certain decorum while talking. Isn't it weird that these channels just go out and talk about anything and everything? I feel like both types of media are derogative to democracy. I feel like media should be able to criticise the government without picking favourites. An unbiased media is after all the cornerstone of democracy. I wish people could better the type of media they put out into the world. These strong opinions that people have are basically brainwashing everyone.

Tik Tok controversy and how it was blatant homophobia

If you remember this from a few months ago, Cary Minati the literal god of ranting on YouTube took out a video in the midst of the pandemic calling people harmful stereotyped name just because they were dancing or putting on makeup or acting. Basically, these people who are dancing and acting feel to him threaten his idea of masculinity so much so that he talked about how they are "gay".
This was obviously homophobic and now that I have started seeing people put their content on Instagr*m Reels, it has been pretty clear that the problem wasn't just about the guys who were dancing and acting, it was that poor people from villages were accessing these spaces and trying to create a name for themselves. And in a world that judges you for the level of English and how you look, I don't understand how conventionally attractive people become heroes and everyone else is gay?
This is extremely homophobic obviously and also it is important for people to look at it from the lense that we are seeing people as per how they behave. And why is it such a thing to judge what people like to do to feel better?
What is the use of judging people's social media activities? Why is anyone better because they aren't dancing or acting?
This heteronormative macho man idea is too old and needs to go away.

Now is not the time UN for precedence

Now is not the time to ask UN to give us a bigger spot. I honestly don't think any of our actions have showed that we deserve the spot anyway. Like, imagine being almost the top most country in the world with rising COVID cases and dying people is it fair of us to ask for more precedence and recognition and in what name? In fact any country at top should give up their spot to give the matter of decisions in the hand of someone capable. We have been living with these bad leaders and their terrible decisions for too long and why should we keep doing it?
Not China being all goofy when it spread the virus everywhere. Or the US acting superior when it is on top of the charts from so many months. Or who else? Oh, I don't know Frace who was one of the worst and UK as well.
All of these countries should give up their seats and let UN decide with a team of experts the plan of action that all of us NEED to follow these!
Now is not the time to play politics, it time to grow up and be better and create a much better world for everyone. Do it. Do better. Stop asking for seats that you don't deserve. at least not now.

The NCB and Deepika story that I don't care about

I don't care about the drugs that these rich privileged ass celebrities are getting. Here, I sometimes can't afford my ration! I really don't give two.. you know what. And so while the farmers are fighting COVID, poverty, death and while millions of people are unemployed and dying and while migrants couldn't get help because the government didn't care about them, could we please care about them?
I have had people tell me that it is important. That these people are making our younger mass eat more drugs, they are making it seem glamorous and mam what I would like to say is this doesn't seem glamorous to me. It never felt amazing when Alia Bhatt couldn't tell who our PM is... It was embarrassing. I am embarrassed for them but I do not care. I really don't care about who is doing what.
I want to know of the masses , about what the government is doing. I want to know more about if I'll get a job after my degree and if my dreams will work out. I really don't care what Deepika does or snorts at her party. And if she does, its honestly none of my bloody business.
And you shouldn't either, please ask questions about COVID, about education and jobs. Please stop encourgaing these bad news channels.

The farmers's bill is more complicated

I think I wrote a few days ago that just a guarantee of MSP and the ideas on paper would make everything fine. That would be assuming that everyone would get the MSP that we have guaranteed but the more I see, the more complicated it gets.
So if the mandi system doesn't help the MSP then in no way would people ever be helped by these large corporations looking to cut their costs. Literally that's what large corporations are known for: not paying people enough! Now that I read up on it, I realise that matters are far more complicated than on paper. Probably like communism. On paper it looks fullprooof but there is no way such an utopia can be achieved.
And so after all this would it ever be a working class thing? I don't think we thought about the farmers here. We want businesses. The things we hate China for, we are mirroring those policies to drive corporations here. But then that just sucks doesn't it?
Why do we have to become the people that we hate? I understand about the GDP and all that but is that the thing we are looking on changing? Are we really hoping to become more like the Chinese Government in this respect?
Our farmers deserve better than the suicides and poverty that they have long been subjected to. Only being used as vote banks by different people and then discarding them as soon as they win. We can do better as a nation. And so we should.

A few positive things about weed

Marijuana has been used to treat people's illnesses from time immemorial. Probably since the first men discovered this leaf that made a lot of the pain go away and make one feel at ease. In the current climate, it is hard to think of drugs or weed specifically as anything other than harmful for one's health and mind. Something that leads to suicide if popular media is concerned. But weed use has been extremely widespread and natural over many many years and here is why:
It is normal, it is natural, it makes things better. Weed is a medicinal leaf. And weed is still legal for many prescribed and medicinal uses. That's because weed has a lot of medicinal properties that chemicals cannot create for you.
I know that it is used in ADHD medication and certain other types of health issues. But today I will tell you about a few positives of weed just because I feel like no one remembers it. Over the years there have been numerous studies on marijuana, its harmful properties as well as its health benefits. They are widely used for treatments of various kinds of ailments:
1. Alchol addiction and drug addiction: As ironical as it sounds, it is very much the truth of the matter. A study in Clinical Psychology Review found that using marijuana in a certain prescribed dosage is important in solving alcohol and opioid addiction. It will lead to the person being free of such dependencies but it obviously does come with the problem of the patient trying to get addicted to marijuanato cope.
2. Chronic pain: We have all known some part of this because of books and films. Chronic pain like when someone loses a foot or something similar warrants the use of medical marijuana to administer the patients through the pain.
3.A host of mental illnesses: Depression, PTSD, Social Anxiety are all accompanied by the symptoms that can be treated by marijuana. But there is caution to the ones suffering from Bipolar disorder and psychosis.
4. There is evidence that shows that cancer cells can be slowed down by the use of marijuana. And they might also help in alleviating nausea and vomiting, and similar symptoms of chemotherapy.
5. epislepsy: Epilepsy medication does contain cannabis, it is infact extremely effective in the treatment of epilepsy.
Of course it isn't all fun and games and there are so many cons of weed usage. But what I feel to be true is that it is an individual's choice. An adult has the choice to make or break their life. No matter how we might want to live, it is completely unfair to ask others to do the same. Marijuana is an important part of many of our lives, it is important that we stop attaching stigma to everything. As for people who are using them, please stay safe. And those who are now suffering, ask for help. Get better.

Don't be vocal for local on Amazon!

Amazon is a multi-million dollar MNC from the US that means that it isn't an Indian company, meaning that it isn't exactly a local selcetion. Our wh*le talk about promoting national companies would go to waste if we keep turning to Amazon. I realise that a lot of us are trying to find local things on Amazon and are increasingly searching the production space before buying it.
But won't you agree that buying local produce on Amazon is hypocritical? Amazon is literally the opposite of local. I remember when Flipkart gave a tough competition to Amazon but now, Amazon has slowly took up the entire space. It maybe the fact that Amazon offers more than a few things, its collection is big. It is the mall of our times and so we buy whatever makes sense to us. You can find everything on Amazon and that is a disadvantage of the app. You find everything here, so you don't look outside and away just in case there are other options in the world somehow.
Don't be really vocal for local on Amazo. If you have to buy local produce buy it from their websites. I know why we choose Amazon, I do it too but when buying clothes or art off of Amazon, try making a trial and searching for the product on Google. there might be a high chance, in case it is made by tech savvy artists of this generation, then they might have a website which might offer you a lower prize. I know that we go on Amazon to find everything in one place like we do with malls but increasingly that has proven to be worse for us with retail therapy really causing us real life monetary problems. So it might be better to find things and buy things off of their actual website or over phone than on Mazon. If we buy from Amazon, we aren't profiting them much and we are indirectly making it hard for them to survive.

Why are people against the krishi bill?

As we know most of our country's population is dependant on farming but we have never really paid any attention to them. We have always looked at the corporates to better their conditions.
There is a study that shows that only 6% of the farmers in the country get the price above the Minimum Support Price. Basically farmers have never decided the actual payment. At first it was the middle men who decided things and now it will be the corporates who will decide the price. So what is the difference? Maybe the corporates would pay a better price?
No but that's the problem right? We are basically just giving one hand of power to someone else. If they will get a MSP or not is in their hands now.
There is another thing that these farmers will get the price and if they don't like it they can go anywhere else to sell their produce. But being a majority small farmer country we can never be sure that it will happen. Most farmers don't have the transportation and communication to go to different places and they will stick to the price that is given to them.
There are so many good things about this bill but there are so many problems as well. I am confused as to what is good or what is bad. Of course it is for the farmers to decide. Just like back then when the fees were increased and it should have been consulted with students.
Me or you are no one to decide if this bill might work or not. But if the farmers are asking clear cut MSP's then just give them that. Apart from that I do believe that this is a good bill.

Kangana Ranaut talks about Depression

Depression is a serious mental illness that about one in twenty Indians suffer from. then there are many who don't get help because they are scared and think that asking for help is a sign of weakness. Depression comes with various symptoms as well and the complete erasure of mental health and hoe it has been somewhat of a first-world problem. Who hasn't heard that? Weren't you ever shut down when you talked about your problems saying so many people are suffering and yet they are happy? Then what is it that you are complaining about?
The answer to all of these questions is that my happiness is not related to who else is worse than me. I am pained that people are in a worse condition but shaming someone into silence over the fact that their depression does not fit the norm of poor people being unhappy and the rich being happy is stupid.
Some of the poor people are not even aware of depression, you are absolutely right but that doesn't mean that they aren't suffering in their very own way.
And to generalise and talk about mental illnesses when she was the one who was talking about her struggles with mental health issues back when we found out about her emails to Hritik Roshan, incorrectly diagnosing herself throughout the wh*le ordeal.
Depression is a dangerous illness that needs cure and these celebrities with their agendas talking about mental health like a joke is detrimental to the society. I hope you never have to go through depression Kangana, because it is the most debilitating of illnesses and yet it is so easy for us to dismiss its seriousness by talking about how it is caused by druge abuse.
In fact, a lot of people who suffer from depression look at substances to erase their pain, and feel worse instead but I am sure that doesn't matter to you and your agenda.
As for us, leave the mental illness community alone. We have suffered enough.

Rajya Sabha and the Monsoon Session full of turmoil

Are we taking advantage of a pandemic and stabbing Democracy till it dies? Rajya Sabha was adjourned sine day. The Corona crisis has already taken the ground from under the country's feet and now additionally there are lawmakers affected by the same. And the opposition made things worse by the boycott of all these proceedings.
As the opposition members were out on the street protesting, people who were left inside kept passing major bills so much so that the opposition wrote a letter asking the president not to sign those as to become laws before it is presented to the house on the wh*le.
If this is how we will take advantages of situations like these, find murky spaces and blurred lines and then go about and do whatever the hell we want then what is the point of a democracy?
I am usually not this blatantly against the working of the Parliament as I have seen worse things being discussed there than actual topics.
Oh, I also remember the wh*le chilli powder incident. Democracy is dying a slow death while we write articles about how so.

Cargo is a movie with an unconventional plot

Cargo is a Netflix movie with an unconventional plot. The plot is akin to any other movie that is set in space in the daily workings of the people on the space ship but it is different because it talks about how they transition people from their deaths to another life for rebirth.
Even though it seems like a future that we will have, it is still made in a nostalgic video mode that will appeal to anyone who grew up watching Star Wars and akin. The subtle jokes that the pop culture around our times have warranted to the movie are great. The performances are decent enough. I would like to confess that I fell asleep during the duration of the movie but I don't think it has to do with the monotone storyline. I think it was about me not sleeping all night to watch a doc*mentary and ignoring my assignments.
I am glad that we had the guts to create something so new yet so inspired in the genre of sci-fi. I am happy that Netflix is giving way to unconventional storylines and not just trying to make money.
Of course, it could have gotten so much better but this is good enough as well. And I am hoping we make many more strides in the right direction soon enough.
Till then to more films like Cargo! Also a little better films but you get my drift.

Is the third world war going to be amongst Pak, India and China?

With the kind of LAC and LOC problems that we are facing from both sides of the border, it is scary how fast there can be a war and if that happened then it is sure that the world might want to join in as China if it wins will control the wh*le world and so the US might want to join in on the troubles to assert its dominance to the world.
Do you think that UK will join in on all this? I am not sure if Europe will join in on anything, they might try and stay aloof. The Middle East might have a lot more interest in this if a war like this happens. So they might throw in their hat. Japan and South Korea might get in too. If it is a war of the world because of these three countries, most of Asia will be in and then America too.
I am not sure if we need that though. There is no reason that these people will get what they want and we should all try to preach peace but it is a rarity that the country politics and the need to show your superiority and power will ever result to something good.
The best would be if we don't have a war at all but there is more of a chance that there will be a war than not.

Rajkumar Rao is an actor to look at

There is so much talent in the movie stars that we keep ignoring. There is obviously a lot more that Rajkumar Rao deserves. Most of his movies are well made and done well. He has acted his little heart out in each one of these movies. It is extremely important that we give him the credit he deserves now before it is too late. I feel like I regret finding Irrfan out too late because he was such a revelation to me. He made me feel things that I wasn't sure, I was capable of feeling. He was a gift on the planet and especially to Bolywood.
The same goes for Rajkumar Rao. His beautifully camouflaging acting personality is perfect. He feels every part and does everything well. I am so glad that he found the stage that he did.
He after all made himself from the ebottom. From ragini MMS to the kind of movies that he has done as of late are beautiful. He deserves much more.
I am a big fan of his acting as well as his personality. Wouldn't you agree that the talented ones are completely unproblematic and stay away from dr*ma. They are humble and fun and thankful towards everything that has happened to them to get them here.
I am so glad Rajkumar thought that this was the dream he had and then followed them everywhere.

Blackmail is the Irrfan film that you need to see

I know if you have seen the reviews then you aren't too positive about the movie but I watched it recently and it was amazing. It is a laugh riot from the beginning to the very end.
Now, the various Golmaal films and Housefull films get made but this one has a much better storyline and acting than all of those. It feels very real weirdly because it is not set in some rich and posh country where the people are trying to woo daughters of people to marry them. It is so weird that this movie comes to me about 5 years after release because I have been on an Irrfan binge and this, I think is a very beautifully made movie. I really love the plot. It is rare that I am more in awe of the story than of Irrfan's acting but today I am sure I need to tell you that this movie has a beautiful story that is extremely twisted and funny.
Yes, I would like to agree that these things happen and that this is what I love. I am more of a dark comedy lover so I see why some people might cringe at the idea of laughing at extremely dark things but I loved it all. I hope you guys can see it soon and let me know if you like it.

I watched a beautiful movie that has been rated really low

I watched a beautiful movie because I was recommended it and I usually do that without referring to reviews but then in the middle of it, I check all the reviews just to see if people are agreeing with me but I was met with so much disappointment.
The movie that I would gladly give 4 stars, got only 1 star from most of the well to do review sites. I was extremely disappointed and thought that my opinions were crass.
Anyway, I thought more and more about it and felt extremely ignorant for liking a movie people thought was bad. And I am the kind of person who sees every single scene in detail and remember even the smallest of tracks so it was impossible for me to know why people didn't like this movie as much as me.
But as I read more and more, I saw that they didn't understand the point. The point of the movie was to be as bonkers as it can be just for the sake of dr*ma and so it did successfully.
But people went in thinking that it will be a comic masterpiece. Which it was. But no one saw it as it was.
Anyway guys, I mean, love the things that you do even if it is unpopular to do so.
Now that doesn't entail racism and casteism, you know what I mean :)

Bulbbul and Stree: Feminist Movies of 21st Century

Bulbbul and Stree are both about girls who have turned into "daayans" after certain life events that have changed things in their life. In Stree, the so-called dayan visits the town every year during puja and takes her revenge on men who had always told her to stay inside and keep themselves safe. A weird role reversal that changes almost everything that is happening. And the only person who could change the destiny of the place is the guy who has been born to a woman who is seen as something lower by the wh*le village. It is said that the dayan becomes a dayan because they take away her lover from her on the wedding night.
About Bulbbul, the lady is married off at a very young age to a paedophilia husband who is lusting after her as well as his brother's wife. It is almost stupid that they are married because she is of a very young age, that essentially means that she is extremely close to the youngest brother who is closer to her age. Every moment they get closer and closer as friends. Even though she is the badi bahu of the house, she is still not that close to her husband. Anyway, the patriarchy shows its true form as soon as she turns against her husband and chooses the one that she is actually in love with.
All these actions are what turns these two women into daayans. And they are scary to everyone else.
The casual feminism is in the fact that it is very obvious that she is a daayan today because she has been wronged by men. So basically, the women scorned is scorned because of the actions of men around them.
Bollywood is breeding such beautiful little stories with palpable complexity that it is heartwarming.

Jaya Bachchan vs Ravi Kishan in the Parliament

Jaya Bachchan is a legendary actress in the industry. Adding to that she has a forever star status being from the most powerful family in the industry that is often times the subject to prayers. And Ravi Kishan is the Bhojpuri Industry start that everyone knows. there is no way that we don't know him and even if we are unaware of his filmography in the Bhojpuri film industry, there are always his amazing songs that are extremely important . Nowadays, you can find both these people in the Parliament, representing their people and talking about the issues that they are passionate about.
Recently the Parliament amongst the nationwide debate over the drug racket in the Bollywood Industrt called for a debate on the same topic wherein Ravi Kishan supported Kangana Ranaut and reiterated many of the people saying that he supports the movement to take out the drug dealers and put them in jails. But he didn't stop there, he accused the wh*le industry of being corrupt and into drugs.
And there's where Jaya Bachachan came in and talked about how the wh*le debate is wrong and hoe the debate shouldn't be about whether Mumbai or the film industry is a bad place because it is responsible for many amazing people reaching where they are.

Kangana Ranaut needs to stop with this verbal diarrhea

Kangana Ranaut recently tweeted about Urmila Matondkar and her acting chops never being any good, instead of calling her someone who was famous for soft porn.
I am of the opinion that feminists are rarely ones to judge and to call someone a pornstar is obviously not a bad thing because that is a choice unless it is done after trafficking and on gunpoint. But to be bitter, which just by the way, is completely palpitable from her tone. She doesn't apologise for saying what she does. She meant it as an insult and after things got bad she dragged in Sunny Leone and called everyone who supported Sunny as a fake feminist.
I feel like the fake feminism is when you use feminism as a counter argument when you aren't being supported by the movement. You realise that feminism is about supporting what is right. And at a certain point in time, it stopped being about you because it was never about you.
It doesn't mean women supporting women no matter what. We, feminists, are still angry on women who are abusive towards their partners. Who are accused of raping or murdering in cold blood. Because those are not the women who need support. We support women who get treated unfairly by society, not the women who treat everyone else unfairly and then cry wolf.
We stood behind her when the Hritik emails came out and she was criticized by the same media that is cherishing her today. It might be just a perspective but it is essential for her to learn some decency. She can't expect our support after being consistently shitty to everyone around her. ESPECIALLY WOMEN.

I watched Badla yesterday and I know I was late to the game

I watched Badla yesterday, not the Varun Dhawan thing but the Tapsee Pannu and Amitabh Bacchhan. It has been copied from a Spanish film called the Invisible Guest that it is based on. Now, the movie itself was well acted and the story flow was beautiful and the logicality was good. Apart from the climax and the "big reveal" everything else was a little difficult to guess.
The big reveal fell a little flat and was a little far fetched. Everything else was going well though. I love how the movie started and how the main plot was related slowly.
At first you think the case is about something else, and then it becomes about something else altogether.
Badla was well acted and directed. The story too was pretty effective. But throughout the film, I kept flashing back to Pink.
Even though both those films have nothing in common, they are still relatable because of the similar role that Bacchan plays. Of course, it is completely stupid to state that the characters were similar. Bacchhan playing a lawyer is nothing new yes, but this time he is different than the other roles that he has played.
Tapsee is playing a little different role than we have often seen her in. But it is amazing to see how far she has come from her first eye candy role in Bollywood. She is one of the most amazing actors in Bollywood right now. She chooses good roles and is doing a great job acting in them. She is doing really well.
At a time when most bigger actresses have gone on to have families and are spending their time behind the screens, she has taken up the right space here.

There is no data on the death of migrant workers

You must have heard this unfortunate statement made in the Parliament recently. All the troubles that were faced, a month full of reports of people walking too far without food, water, money and sometimes not even shoes.
This means that all the "money' that was supposed to be given to these people never got to them.
I think a lot of you have seen the meme about how there are 11 Lakh pages on Umar Khalid and his speech but not one name or news report was used for the migrants walking to their homes at a time that it was extremely unsafe to do so.
This is what gets to me, the government tries to talk about things that don't matter in the long run with the help of news channels that are under them. This means that we are trying to deflect the real topics like migrants dying mid way because of their desperation to get back to someplace safe even if that means that they wouldn't have a job or money anymore. It is completely amazing how public report can show anything that they want us to believe. And to believe such a record is just telling lies to ourselves. I haven't seen 2 hour debates being conducted on this. This is still something that we are accepting even when we have always been critical of public record on the deaths during several natural disasters. Then why is this different?
What we are saying really is that these lives didn't even matter enough to be on public record. And how sad is that? That your death didn't matter, nor did your life. Everyone moved one. Even the ones who were supposed to remember.

College fees are still being collected even without online classes

Recently a friend of mine came to me and asked if my college was conducting online classes and I said yes. Apart from that, she asked me if I am paying hostel fees and I denied. I am aware of many colleges and universities that are asking for fees but my University hasn't demanded any as of yet. Anyway, this means that my friend is paying for hostel as well as class fees while she is getting none of the benefits from them. I know the problem, I see that people have to be paid and that money is essential for the running of the University. But I seriously feel that the money that we are saving on produce and gas for mess as well as electricity and travel bills can be used and utilized for additional funding. I don't know how to comment about private education centers but our Government institutes get money from the Government even when there is nothing.
Even if there are no classes, the Government still pays money too the educational institutes that is the wh*le point of the Education Fund.
Whatever happened to Government helping out families that are suffering.
My friend is infarct suffering. Her family is affected by COVID and they don't have enough to cover the increased fees. I see the arguments for both the sides and I agree that people who are able to pay, should pay. But the people who aren't able to, they should be let off. At least that is what we are going forward with.

Our obsession with crime dr*mas

These days I spend all my time watching Crime Patrol in bed doing my assignments or whatever and guessing who killed who. If I am right, I feel like I have achieved something amazing on my own and feel like I should join the police force or some kind of crime solving agency and if I don't then I feel bad and say oh well not even the police could solve it anyway so how could I have done it.
Anyway this has led me to believe I was alone in doing so but after day after day of seeing Crime Patrol for more than 6 hours everyday, I realized it can't be possible that I am the only one. There must be better TRP around it. I realized eventually that everyone was obsessed with these shows, so much so that news channels and other channels were going to have to make similar shows to match TRP's.
Let's not get into the debate about which show is better because I honestly think Crime Patrol is the most realistic among them all. The other ones go too far in fictionalizing the case that they make it overly dr*matic.
But what is our obsession with crime? As our country has glued its eyeballs to the news of Rhea and how SSR died, I know that everyone is obsessed with crime and dr*ma.
I have a theory, it is because we want to be able to do these larger than life things and that's why we are this obsessed with crime. But on the other end, I am sure not even half of us could go through the pressure.

Umar Khalid and Delhi Police an unusual tale

Umar Khalid came into everyone's radar after the footage from JNU was released where there were slogans raised about "Free Kashmir". But that wasn't the end of it. The thing kept dragging on and on. Do you remember that famous Arnab video after which he suddenly turned into a BJP supporter and staunch defender of their actions when his job is literally the opposite? Anyway, Umar Khalid became somewhat of a villain. Along with Kanhaiyya Kumar, he became the nation's enemy number 1.
Kanhaiyya somehow regained a certain image after he gave speeches all around and embraced his identity as the terrorist and didn't try to convince people who already hated him. He did his thing. Umar Khalid was somehow left behind, maybe because during the first part he ran away. Being a Kashmiri Muslim, it was obviously going to go against him. And so it goes, he was called all names in the book and the interview with Arnab, he was silenced while Arnab kept shouting.
Anyway after all that there was a riot in Delhi in 2020. The wh*le thing came after the heat that the wh*le country was filled with after CAA-NRC. Now I am sure you have read enough and heard enough about all this so I'll get directly to the point. Was Umar Khalid guilty?
No. I don't remember any part of his speech saying, please go and riot and terrify the Hindu population so that they find out that they are doing us wrong. Go shoot the people who support CAA-NRC because they have been anti-national and gone against the ideals of the constitution of secularism and our country's well-thought tagline "Vasudheiva kutumbakam".But just to remind you someone who did... Anurag Thakur. Where is the questioning? Now I am not saying that Shaheen Bagh wasn't behind the riots or whoever it was that was behind the riot should be put in jail and punished. And among those people will very well be Kapil Mishra and Anurag Thakur.
The country hates Umar Khalid for something that he hasn't been proven of doing. Remember that.

JL50 is a fast paced time travelling show

JL50 as I thought, is the answer to Germany's Dark and yet it didn't stand near it. Good actors are wasted on a lackluster script that reveals before it can even create a mystery. But despite all that, it is important that we stop and weigh the ups and downs. Ups, I think it is a great leap to include time travel in a filmed setting that isn't based on any other foreign entity.
I have always been fascinated by sci-fi and all the content that we have been provided in India turns into a Rom-com. Like Love story 2020 ( unpopular opinion but I liked it because it chose to take a nonstandard route towards time travel), or Action Replayy which was stolen from Back to the future was also an underrated Rom-com gem and there is also Baar Baar Dekho and won't you know? Rom-com!
JL50 is not a rom-com. It falls into the troubled hero fighting through the inner and outer turmoil category. It could have been explored better and that would have made things way more interesting.
The story itself is pretty good, and the acting is good. Pankaj Kapoor is amazing as usual and I love me some Abhay Deol. The female lead Ritika Anand feels unnecessarily restrained. I would've liked some more screen time for Piyush Mishra. And that's what I am saying, apart from some minor acting flaws, this stellar cast makes you keep watching.
The show is a crisp 2 hours long, and I am including the end and beginning credits. You can watch it at one go. It is more or less a movie. But the action dips and rises because you see it as a television show. Either way, I am glad that we are opening up to newer genres and so I am looking forward to watching Cargo soon.
Apart from that, watch Dark guys. It's beautiful.

Kangana is being celebrated as a feminist icon

Kangan is being celebrated as a feminist icon by the same mainstream media that once upon a time used to paint her as the deranged lover who was always wrecking homes left and right. I remember seeing one of the "entertainment bulletins" once upon a time that was talking about her many affairs and judging her love life. I am all for gossip but to paint someone as a homewrecker and for lack of a better word someone who sleeps around is still a record low. This means that feminism was thrown out of the window when it was easier to take a side that was extremely misogynist.
And now when its easier and the news channels see that standing behind Kangana would take away the witch hunt tag as they can just place it on the opposite party. How simple is this? You can so easily shrug your shoulder and tell someone else that they are the ones that are wrong.
I see that the BMC is a villain but Kangana is wrong here too. And the news media has to stop taking sides while reporting.
Remember when the Hritik emails were released and everyone called her mental? Even though that is an unacceptable term for anyone? Remember when she was shown as not classy enough for Bollywood? Because I do?
And now they use the same footage to tell a revised tale of how a woman can stand on her own and how she is empowered? Please keep your lies about everything to yourself.

Politics will eat this country up

The recent attacks on a naval officer seem like an impossible feat. After all, why will someone beat up someone else to share something on WhatsApp to their friends? Think back to the first time something like this shook you, are you thinking about UP? Are you thinking about a man getting lynched because someone rumored that he had cow meat in his fridge? Yes? No? You thought this was the only case?
So do you remember the thousands of lynchings, the journalists executed, and all of these things? It isn't new as a lot of liberal media claims. people were always scared to go against the Government. But it is not that normal that mainstream media has led you to believe either.
To have been beaten up to share somewhat of a meme is such horror but then there are WhatsApp forwards that caused the Delhi Riots of 2019. It is scary but yet again, they aren't easy at all. And how can you monitor what happens, who takes what to heart? Ministers and politicians like all celebrities are subject to public scrutiny. You understand where I am going with this right? Even though these people are subject to public scrutiny, we must be civil. They are only humans after all. But in case they are being mocked relentlessly over something, there is no reason why they must use their power and money to send goons and beat people up.
Are we still that way? Are we still children? Just because we have traceable histories doesn't mean that we are subject to be criticized because of every single mistake. At least not a public way.

A poem I wrote for someone I don't speak to anymore

I spent the day walking in the sun Feeling the wind on my face I spent the afternoons in a daze Attempting to write poetry about this phase I guess I panicked and thought I would sink But I was made for the sea And yet, oh yet Every spiral down Reminds me of it I guess I spend the evenings wondering where it went wrong Playing movies in my head Walking back through the nights I spent Entangled in your strings I guess I never fell in love with you But I wanted you to stay I stare at my phone these days wondering If you'll ever call me up again. I had a four month spin, I had an old town feel I dipped my feet in the mud But I couldn't find my way back in I guess I was hoping for something good After everything that's happened I stand on the stage and wonder If you are watching. I guess I wanted it to last, I only wanted to be held I only wanted one time in my life Not to feel the way I felt. I watched a hundred more shows each night I eat ice cream by the hour I feel I lost someone important But I guess I never found her. I still think about you everynight But the memories are now sour I still hope I'll see your face And tell you that it sucks, that you had to do what you did That I had to feel the way I feel That everything ended up this way

Piracy is not that big of a crime!

I understand how it feels like when a small artist has his work sold in pirated sites for free but for big artists and corporations, it isn't that big of a deal. It is important that we see through the problems that piracy creates for such talents. Even though most movies are released on pirated websites before release, they still get a loyal band of theatergoers who choose that over pirated movies. It is often those movies or progr*ms that can't be afforded by us. But then there are many times, that people can afford services like Netflix and Amazon prime and still take to pirated sites which is wrong.
People who cannot afford the art that you create and are still interested in viewing them should be a big compliment. Apart from that piracy creates a lot many jobs that we don't realize. It is somewhat like doing things in black especially things like corruption. Even though it is extremely harmful, there are bright sides to them. But unlike corruption, piracy doesn't affect the artists who are rich tremendously. Do you think it will matter to someone like Salman Khan if his movies are taken from the net? Not really. But it might affect a smaller artist.
So if you can afford, spend money on art. But if you cannot, try and spend on small artists rather than bigger ones.

I am trying my best and yet it seems like it isn't enough

At times like these where all you can do is watch people's lives from over online and through pictures or word of mouth, you will never know the reality. And so it may either feel like you aren't doing anything productive because you haven't made every dish in the world or maybe you feel so because people have made strides. They have done many internships and have started preparing for different exams as well as do all of the assignments that you are falling behind on.
It's okay, I know it feels like you are falling behind and not doing anything worthwhile. But that's not the truth. I wish I could tell you that everyone is struggling and it is extremely difficult for you to be functioning the same way as others.
A lot of the people handle stress by overworking themselves, some people aren't as stressed as you are. It's okay. It doesn't make you weak. It makes you human. It's okay to fall behind on things.
I am trying my best and it seems like it isn't enough but I don't think I'll give up any sooner. You don't either. Soon enough things will fall back to normalcy. And you are trying your hardest. A worldwide pandemic is extremely stressful and whoever tries to belittle your struggles doesn't deserve you.

Just because you feel lonely now, don't go back to them

Let's all be honest, we have all had a tough year with lonely times because of the isolating quarantine. But that's alright of course, all of us have felt bad once or twice or many more times in this duration. It is important that we look at things properly.
Many of us go back to toxic friends and relationships just because we feel isolated. Most of us go back to things that have hurt us over and over again because we feel like if we left that behind we would be all alone.
I have had a revealing time, a few years ago in isolation I reconnected with a bunch of people from the past who have caused a world of hurt. I was hoping to escape all the loneliness in my life then and the only way was to walk back to others. The truth was I knew that it was unfair of me to ask these things and become friends again with those people but at that point in life I thought it would be better to be miserable than be lonely.
I can understand if you feel that way these days but it is not right. It is harming yourself. And you know that. You deserve better. You deserve people who treat you well and not those who hurt you. You are important. Don't ever forget that.

Ask people before you touch them

Everyone has certain boundaries that matter a lot to them. For example, I appreciate hugs but I always like if people ask me if they could hug me. I am of the view that surprises are only pleasant when both people want it. If the person you are surprising likes what you are going to give them then go ahead but if not, then that's going to be an issue. Always ask people before you touch them. Yes, many people love surprises and touch but if you don't know them and know their boundaries ask them first When you first hang out with someone and you really want to touch them, ask first. Its courteous and extremely important for people to like the feeling of being touched. What is the bad thing of permission anyway? People who are okay will laugh and say thanks but you don't need to ask anymore. Good, because you know that now and can do what you want. Its still important to note that these feelings can change. But if they aren't comfortable with it, then it will clear things up and you can find other things to do. Sometimes getting rejected of the touch is not about you personally but because of something unrelated to you. Don't take it personally and always ask.

Suicide Prevention Day is probably the most important day

The world celebrates Suicide Prevention day every year on the 10th of September. In fact, some people celebrate it all week and others celebrate it all month. The day marks the well-needed reminder to people who have considered suicide or who have survived a loss of a loved one to suicide that there is light at the end of the tunnel.
I feel like it shouldn't be a day, but instead, it should be every day that we are reminded of the lives that are lost that could well be preventable.
Suicide Prevention Day is indeed a step in the right direction and should be celebrated more and more so as to bring light to the horror of suicide and how people who are going through so much pain think that their lives would never get better.
I am a big believer that one day suicide will not be something that people do. One fine day no one will believe that they are alone. They will find someone to hold them back from the jump. I am so hopeful that everything will be completely alright.
Suicide Prevention Day marks an important date in my calendar. Its time to mark it in yours too. Reach out to people around you, create a healthy and hospitable environment for everyone.
And to anyone considering suicide, YOU ARE IMPORTANT, YOU ARE LOVED, PLEASE STAY.

Did BMC do the wrong thing with Kangana?

YES. They targetted her and broke her office. Is that fair? Absolutely not.
But at the same time, the thing about Kangana is that she did make an office that didn't comply with BMC guidelines.
The truth of the matter is that there was Political targetting to someone who was opinionated and she was trying to talk about her feelings on the matter. No matter what it is that she was trying to say. The agreement or the disagreement with her thoughts are completely personal matters and don't have much to do with the matter. The matter is simple: A woman whose voice matters in this world was silenced through political propaganda.
But at the same time, don't forget that BMC breaking her office wasn't wrong. It was wrong of her to do such illegal construction.
I hope all of this dies down soon, but the more I hope the worst it gets so let's just pray for the health and happiness and hope that no one else is targetted for their opinions. Please don't be outraged at selective things.

Is Kangana Ranaut being used as Political propaganda?

Is Kangana Ranaut being used for false propaganda by BJP or is this all just for attention.
As you know people on top and in public eye love the attention. So it might be so that Kangana Ranaut as well as all the parties involved are doing all this for attention. Since the very beginning, this has been a cry for attention from Kangana's side. She used up all the publicity that she could
Obviously the industry has the same motto for everyone, "Every publicity is good publicity." SO talking and appearing in the middle of dr*mas is important for stars. You don't hear enough about the celebrities who stay quiet and thus they are out of our sight. And as the saying goes Out of sight, out of mind. Maybe that is why PR teams leak information that can be considered controversial.
Kangana is no stranger to dr*ma and taking a stance. May it be her staunch criticism of nepotism or her affairs. Whatever it is, we are always waiting for a Kangana story. On the other hand, there are people like Deepika who say relatively quiet on things. What is a better tactic? I have no clue. I do believe Kangana is a far better actress than Deepika but she is rewarded by the controversy that she puts herself in the middle of.
So I personally don't think she is doing it for BJP. She is doing this for herself. And the BJP is getting an unfair advantage.

I did something brave today and I feel really proud

Increasingly, this place has become somewhere I can come to remind myself that I am doing better than ever and my bad days won't bring me down. So the other day I was talking about how I was going to do something that I haven't done before. And so I did it! I participated in an open mic event.
It was so scary like I could feel my heartbeat out of chest but I calmed myself down. I hadn't told any of my friends because I was so scared I would do badly and I wanted to be embarrassed in front of strangers and not close friends.
But it went well! And people said they loved my voice?! What?! I find my voice extremely annoying. I was extremely overwhelmed like I always am. I get all stressed out before all my performances and then I can't breathe but as soon as the light hits and I am on stage, everything disappears. It's just me talking to myself all alone. Or dancing all alone. I don't think of it as though, dance like no one is looking. I feel like I love it better when all eyes are on me.
I know that sounds extremely narcissistic, but I love it when people give me attention or I bring a smile on their faces or tears. I love the feeling that I have the ability to move someone the same way that performing moves me. Anyway getting out of topic here, I am so glad I did it. I am feeling a tiny bit proud of myself so I'll bask in that glory.

What is your choice of generation?

Every new generation is nostalgic for the thing that they have experienced as a child. This means that every generation that grows old feels a kind of comfort in the things that they used to have and their times because back then they were important. As we grow older, we would be the generation that judges teens then as they do their activities. But the truth is that we were something of a phenomenon and so were they. All of the generations are better than others. Evolutionary theorists would agree with me, and you are agreeing too. But because we are so self-involved we wouldn't see it when we grow older or see it in the younger generations. Not because we don't want to. But because if we rationalize it, we won't have any comfort left.
So when we grow, let's hold on to our music like our parents do but are open to the new music If we close ourselves off to the newer things and believe that we are better than everyone else, then we won't be a great generation. Isn't that the thing you hate the most in the older generations? Their refusal in trying to comply with the things that the world is like. there are still people who don't understand and are open to things.
Let's be the generation that makes all other generations want to be more open and accepting of things.

I hope you are doing good, I am doing some new things

I had a bit of a phase where I was underconfident and extremely defensive. I hid behind everyone. This came after I wanted to be the center of attention for most of my life. It was new to me and completely debilitating. I was so scared that I was doing things wrong and that no one wanted to hear from me. So I just stayed quiet instead. Eventually, it became the way of my life. Nobody believed that I used to be someone who would try and be the first one to do everything. I chose silence over a voice that I was proud of.
But recently, I have understood that life is extremely short to be defined by the things that scare me. So I am taking a new leap. I am trying my best to do the things I love without my legs shaking.
I am glad that I am here now. And I can only go upwards and I am proud of the strides I am making every day.
Btw, if you are doing so too and are too scared of letting others know, I see you and I think you are doing great. Keep going.

Small businesses in this economy

The number of businesses has increased from the last time and that is a great sign. But the problem is that most of these businesses are small scale businesses that aren't on a high growth trajectory and hence cannot employ more people. The most that these people can employ is about 20 people.
Starting businesses are amazing for the economy and people who are trying this hard to make a living for themselves on their own are a gift. But there is obviously an issue that we are not looking at. Every small business cannot prosper, hence they cannot make more money and hire people. The big companies and monopolies have the resources to take out the human resources from the factory set up and make it all about machines.
Small businesses need to prosper and grow. What a free economy does is it gives certain people an unfair advantage. Would you trust a new brand that you haven't heard of before? Maybe. But how many will do it with you?
Small businesses have a right to grow and prosper even more than a bigger company. What are your thoughts on the matter?

Kangana Ranaut has her office demolished

Kangana Ranaut has her house demolished by the BMC. And all of this is just to drag our attention from things that matter. Obviously there are always these news stories that grab eyes and satiate our need for dr*ma while taking our minds off of the real issues that plague us. Why are news channels shoving down this narrative our throats? Because that would mean that we won't ask questions that are important.
We are so distracted by the scandals that we almost forget that our degrees might not lead to a job and a life that is well adjusted. That would only lead to better things for people in power because they can keep working on their agendas, making money for themselves, stealing, and hiding.
And what happens to the likes of us? We sit and wonder what has been happening, compare our lives to someone else's, and believe that everything is right after all. It is us that don't fit in this world.

Freud's ideas about childhood and how it defines our adulthood

Freud is a revolutionary thinker of his time. He de*ised many postulates that still guide modern psychology in one way or another.
Freud believes that childhood defines our life and how we grow up has much to do with what we will grow into. His intentions were correct but his ideas were a little too out of the box and cannot be proven but it is obviously extremely important that a child grows up well to become a well-adjusted adult.
Freud has told that psychosexual development in children is what makes them who they are. That at a particular moment we are obsessed with a part of our body that is mostly sexual in nature and if that is not managed well then we become an adult who isn't well adjusted and reverts back to old childhood habits to feel the comfort that he used to.
Adulthood is a complicated time for sure. Now I am not so sure that psychosexual development has anything to do with this phase but it presents an alternative. There are also extremely intrinsic values that a person cannot let go of. Not everything is shaped by the parents. There are certain things that parents can't change.
As a potter cannot change the nature of the mud that he makes a pot with, only shape the pot to the best of his abilities. There is no way we can decide that a parent is well versed in shaping the reality of a child.

Things that I could do before and now miss

Things that I could do before:
1. I could sleep late after roaming around the college campus or studying in the library or eating pizza at 3 am with friends or watching a movie with a friend or just sitting on the road and cry-laughing about nothing.
2. I could go to get groceries and other essentials every month. Sometimes as a self-care day I would take a walk all alone and get myself an Oreo shake.
3. I could perform in front of people. I don't know if you are in love with performing as much as me but I really miss singing/ dancing or acting.
4. I miss being able to walk to the canteen and get to eat tasty food that is extremely cheap. I miss being able to walk in and then knowing that I will eat the same thing anyway and still look at the menu.
5. I miss talking to strangers.
6. I miss going on adventures on public transportation and feeling like I am a successful adult because I saved money I would've wasted on a cab on walking and taking a bus.
7. I miss being able to dream without keeping Corona in mind too.
8. I miss having things to say that have nothing to do with Corona or the current state of the world.

Train travels in the times of Corona

Many of us are highly conscious of going out and traveling. Yet there are many of us who have to travel because it is extremely important to our jobs or to meet the family.
Anyway, that would mean trains have to be functional and the trains are functioning in a lower state because of the crisis. Only a few trains are working in these times.
This has also left two types of people. One, who are scared and don't want to travel at all so are choosing to avoid travel at all cost. Two those who are trying to travel through it all.
Now in these circ*mstances that nothing in the structure is ready for, the trains are functioning differently. People who are trying to learn how to keep themselves sanitised in the train bathrooms and the seats that have been used by thousands. You can't sleep on the seats without sheets on, there is no way that you can use an unclean bathroom. Everything has changed so much.
Train travels have changed completely and it may change further pretty soon. All we can do is wait.

I am from Puri and I can see the problems they are facing first hand

Puri is a world-famous religious site as you might know. And being from Puri I can tell you how it has completely shambled the world-famous site. People with restaurants, houses that they put on rent, bus owners, the temple authorities, and the people who sold their goods near the temple are all in trouble. Actually, I can walk you through it, if you have ever been to Puri or any religious place for that matter, you have a mental picture already. From the thousands of busses, trains or cars whatever you have used to get to Puri, you take an auto to the main road leading to the temple and then the rickshaw that takes you to about 700mts near to the temple and then there are shops where you could keep your shows and mobile while you go into the temple. Then as you go in there are vendors who sell flowers, incense sticks, and diyas. There are small temple pandits who earned through the dakshinas, the people who sold the mahaprasad are all out of income.
If you have booked yourself a hotel or a lodge then good, if not then you have rented a room and the food that you are eating out from a small stall or a big restaurant, the toys you are buying, the handicrafts that caught your eyes. The small shops that keep toothpaste and brush if you forgot yours back at home. The people on the beach who are selling light snacks. Everyone is affected by this crisis and they have lost a lot more than we can ever count. There hasn't been a dip worse than this one.

Why are we so invested in this Rhea case especially Republic TV

Republic TV is harassing and following Rhea. I am currently watching as they are heckling Rhea and following her car and I have had my personal problems with them before but this LOUD and completely boundary less and threatening privacy of someone. This reminds of the Monica Lewinsky case more often than not. An all-around witch hunt that has never be undertaken for anyone else of stature. How many times have we seen someone as Weinstein or Epstein getting the same treatment as Rhea? Or if you say that this is about Indian media then do you remember how they went after the adopted daughter of Raja R*m Rahim more than him? That was the biggest news for weeks. And there were revealing things. Back then it wasn't as clear but all I can say is Indian media or media, in general, are crazy about dr*ma and something like this is better than make belief reality shows that show something and are completely different.

Money is important in this society and it seems unfair

Sometimes I am in one of my moods and I think about what my life would've been if I had more money. The thing is that money has defined our lives for too long now. If you have money then you are important. If not, then you are nobody.
On most days, it doesn't matter to me how much my family earns but then it bothers me on somedays when people are talking about their experiences. I am not sour that I haven't been to Switzerland and shopped in Paris but sometimes it bothers me that other people, richer people, see that as some kind of achievement. Being rich is seen as such an achievement that it bothers me.
I was reading about famous writers and artists who died poor and hungry but are now worth millions. Is that fair? Why is genius recognized so late? But mostly, why is money an achievement even when we know people who are artistically gifted and yet never have the money to fulfill their dreams.
Since I was younger, I wanted to get richer than we are now. And I think most of us, middle-class people, have had the same dream. That's why we strive for a well-paid job. That's why we never have dreams that don't include a better living condition. It is later that we strive for happiness but often money and happiness don't come together. Maybe that's why it is such an achievement to be rich.

Snapchat is warping our sense of reality

Our perception is shaped by what we see around us. Most of the time we see heavily edited versions of fellow human beings which warps our perception of reality and what it means. Snapchat may be the biggest culprit behind it. From back in the day when it was almost more famous than Instagr*m, to now when its followers are dwindling and Instagr*m has stolen most of its famous features.
Recently, I noticed that I cannot take a selfie without using Snapchat because IRL my face looks bad and anytime I open my phone's camera, I feel like I am a different person. It was recently that I read that many youngsters are going for the Snapchat filter plastic surgery so as to look more pleasurable. Because according to Snapchat, having big eyes, big lips, and a slender face is all that we need to like ourselves better. But that's the problem. Every new addition to its filters makes one or the other person lose their self-identity.
So even when you are on Snapchat, stop trying to look like it wants you to look. You are beautiful!

Do you ever feel like you are completely invisible

I have a workshop going and I feel like a fish out of water. I love the things that they are teaching but it takes me a long time to get comfortable with people. Actually it depends. Some people seem to me like they are too unreachable and too out of my life. I feel very invisible. You know unless I am appreciated and called out, I feel like I don't matter and then I keep avoiding these places. Maybe that's my issue. I always want to be the centre of attention. Maybe I can fade into the background and no one will realise. One day, I joined late and no one even noticed. Another day, we were taking votes and no one asked me for my opinion and I guess everyone has to speak for themselves.

Why do people care about other people only after they are dead?

Recently we had a death in our family and everyone poured in condolences and support. But in truth, there was nothing that we could do when the person was alive, no support, no help.
Similarly, when Sushant died all the floodgates opened. What was once considered a mediocre performance was now la*ded and raved about. Why is it that people only care only after you are dead? Have you stopped to think that overcompensating your life now will not help anyone? It will only make things worse. back when he was alive no one cared about his existence, maybe a handful of fan pages and Page 3 articles that love to be mean to him were after him.
Where is the compassion for the living? we are still living for the dead. We are still worried that the dead would punish us and for that we punish fellow beings who are alive. I can remember a case very recently that focused on a guy who was obsessed with the afterlife and proceeded to kill off his entire life to prove his research. Why are we so obsessed about what will happen after we are dead.
We forget about the living, we forget about all our mistakes simply because we believe that praying a certain god would ensure that we are in heaven.
Stop living for the dead, treat the living right. If we had treated our relative better, if the industry had treated Sushant better, all this guilt and overcompensation wouldn't be happening.

Divorce is still a taboo topic that no one wants to talk about

The fault and blame game that comes with a divorce is heartbreaking but even so, people change and saying if you were going to divorce eventually then you should never have been married is stupid. Divorces are important. Do you know what becomes of toxic home environments where no one is happy? Everyone suffers in silence and for centuries that has been our tradition.
What is the point of a tradition that hurts everyone? Why can't people just accept the fact that people grow apart and that things change in relationships? Even though it is somewhat still considered unfortunate to be divorced in foreign countries, it is still not the way that we treat it in India. Divorce is maybe not a reason of issues, maybe its just a couple who lost their love for each other and grew apart.
In Noah Baumbach's Marriage Story, you see the couple struggle to fit into the category of divorcees that society wants to fit them, even though they are clearly in love and still care about each other. It never takes sides, it shows two sides of a marriage and how it falls apart.
And that is merely what it is. We have to start looking at people as humans and not as characters, sometimes there are no villains and heroes. Sometimes all there is are two people who aren't sure they want to stay together. And that's completely okay.

Depression and this country's defiance in accepting it

I am sure most of us have gone through hard times and came out of it stronger. We call them our bad times. You know what depression is? It is the reminder that those bad days are just around the corner, ready to pounce on you whenever anything slightly bad happens. Or sometimes, even, when anything extremely good happens. But we take to mean depression as sadness. There has been persistent sadness in many of our lives and I am no one to deny it but you know depression is not just persistent, its debilitating. And yet, this country and this world as a wh*le treats it as a common demon that you could defeat with yoga and spirituality.
I am sure you have heard that before, I am sure people have told you not to be tensed in a tense situation. I have heard my parents say it so many times to me. I remember before exams, I would tense up and start doing random things and my parents would say Don't be tensed. That isn't helpful at all.
Similarly to tell people that they have control over something this debilitating makes them question their strength. How do you live with a head that is hell-bent on trying to turn you against yourself?
All I am saying is keep an open mind, and try to guide people towards support centers if you have nothing to offer.

I feel like a bad person sometimes, don't you?

I feel like a bad person sometimes when things happen that aren't in my control. The times that I am a bad person, are completely etched in my memory and I would agree that I need to change those habits. But I am talking about the times when I am not a bad person and trying too hard to do something that is good but the results still end up not in my favor.
Like how sometimes I want to help someone but instead I make it worse for them and then I feel like a bad person. Don't you relate? I mean I swear my intentions were good but these things bother me. And then I go into a spiral about how I am not a good person. What about you? Have you ever faced such situations?

Why do we care about the Sushant case so much?

Hey, I am at it again. I thought I wouldn't talk about this again but here I am. I get pretty worked up about this. I see news channels showing the same five stories and none of them relating to the fact that we are facing one of the worst economic crises. You can call me a narcissist but I am worried about the job situation and how I will achieve my dreams. I am also worried about people who are dying because of cOVID as I really wanted to enjoy my college life and not sit at home.
But all day long, all TV channels and newspapers have turned into a Page 3 bulletin board. When I was younger, I thought real news is boring and I would wait for Bollywood news because I was so enchanted by their lives and how they have so much money and wear such pretty dresses and nowadays I am enraged by them. At times like these, when people talk about how they cannot wear a certain dress outside, it makes me mad. there are lives in danger, there are students who wouldn't get to live their dreams but this is the biggest problem that you can find. I recognize that my anger stems from frustration.
but something else that frustrates me is the media scrutiny behind the SSR case. The 24/7 coverage to the point that I remember him and the people in his life more than I remember mine. I guess I can just turn off the TV easily but I still feel like I can't. There is a sense of blindness that I feel if I don't keep up because it is all that everyone talks about. Can we please change things? Can we bring back the topics that matter nationwide and make SSR's case a tragedy that needs media coverage only when there are real breakthroughs?

Veganism is a choice and you should not be shaming others

Veganism is a choice and you should not shame those who aren't interested in your policy. Historically people who have had a much powerful position and a better-off life, like Brahmins in India have had a culture of vegetarianism. Even in that, coastal Brahmins aren't vegetarians, they are very much non-vegetarians.
Anyway, the talk had always been that Brahmins would go to heaven because of their birth and because they help others and don't hurt animals by eating their flesh while people of the lower castes who have a rich culture of eating animal flesh are wrong.
The truth is, that people eat what is readily available to them. There are temples in the coastal belt that have a tradition of fish being a bhog in the temples. And people of tribal areas were always eating things that they can lay their hands on. It is a matter of great privilege that you are able to afford a diet that is purely vegetarian. And yet, people think it is important to shame other people into it. there are a lot of nutrients that our body misses out on if we stop eating animal protein. The current trend of veganism is audible for those who can afford it because you know how much costlier soya mil is from regular milk. Diets are fashionable only in countries that have an abundance of food, you don't see people in poor regions dieting because for them every grain is important. Most of the things that they find around them, they eat. It is impossible for us to warrant what one likes and what one doesn't. I say this as a vegetarian myself. I have been a vegetarian all my life and I have not had a good experience in eating non- vegetarian food items but it's not up to me to shame them. It's their choice as to what they want to eat. Let people live!

Don't you think most of outrage is selective?

I have seen a lot of selective outrage these days. People choose sides and decide what side they are on and then they decide what angers them. For example, a lot of pages that want to claim that feminism is wrong to make sure to include every mistake a woman and someone from a minority community has done as a big deal. On the other hand feminism pages that are merely hating on men and are far from trying for women empowerment, love hating men, and try and make them the culprit no matter what.
This selective outrage is detrimental for our society as it makes it look like human beings aren't human beings but are groups that believe certain ideologies. I see a lot of ministers reminding people of certain things that the ministers before them did to counter-argue them bad things that they have done. I mean, I understand that they are wrong but I don't see how that is relevant to the conversation now. We made a mistake, we banded with the British and let them divide us, yes! But that's in the past why can't we focus on the problems that currently plague us?
Why are we so intent on proving our points? Why are we so intent on proving all men are trash or all feminists are garbage logic? Why can't we just accept that some men are trash and some feminists are garbage and they've done things that are not to be trusted? Why can't people be held accountable without bringing the wh*le community into it. Why are all men blamed for one man committing rape or all women blamed if one woman abuses someone? The reality is anyone can be abusive and a rapist. We have to keep our eyes open. In this war of sides, we forget to hold the ones guilty as truly accountable.

We pay too much regard to marriages

A woman's ultimate aim in life should not be marriage. We are so obsessed with the idea that marriage is the best thing that can happen to you . I have a neighbour. I find her extremely cool. She was a teacher all her life and now she lives with her mother near our house. We talk about books and all the other things including politics and the society. One day she was talking about how a relative of hers keeps commenting on the fact that she isn't married. She likes how she is and who she is. She thinks that marriages are a waste of time and she is glad she didn't rope herself into one if those.

My relatives cannot afford my cousins education

My relatives cannot afford my cousins education so they are planning to marry her off. She is not much older, barely 25. She wanted to pursue a Ph.D. but she couldn't clear the exams and doing a Ph.D. in private universities or abroad would need a lot of money that her family cannot afford. So she is going to have to marry someone.
She wanted to get a degree but she isn't the brightest of students but I still believe that people who want to study should get to study no matter their financial condition or their merit. The pursuit of knowledge is much more important than getting good marks. She doesn't test well and she gets panic attacks before exams. She has tried not to get so anxious but she puts too much pressure on herself and ensa up empty-handed.
I don't think she should get married, she should try to convince them further and then take up a job and try to get into one of the good universities eventually. Plus marriage should not be the next step anyway. If she can't pursue her Ps D she should get to have a job and earn before considering marriage. I am sure she will make the right decision and I will help her convince uncle and aunty.

Theatre community is suffering and tring their best to hold on

If you can tune into some zoom plays and buy tickets, I would suggest you do so. Due to the pandemic theatre, artists are suffering and it is obvious because their craft has to be performed in front of a bunch of people and that isn't possible.
the community was suffering as it was with people preferring the comfort of their homes and movies and TV screens over live performances even though they are much harder and require a lot of skill and precision to get right. All the practices and efforts that they put into their work have always been met with praise and honor but recently, theatre artists are struggling and the only way we could help is to support all of their ventures. their ventures into an online sphere where they cannot touch or see each other and might even lose connectivity in the middle of their act. But you support them because they deserve encouragement. It is highly important to have the freedom to be able to explore new horizons and transform traditional spaces into a more modern form. Even so, it needs our help to survive so search up on google about a show and if you have the resources, sit for a while and support these people.

Stop turning marriages into the happy endings that everyone aims for

I was recently reading about how it is possible that there were many more women who wrote their stories during the literary ages that set up the novel-writing tradition. Women were more inclined towards stories and had more time on their hands so it is very much possible that women were writing actively and yet they weren't getting published because they had to go through a much more complicated process of evaluation when it comes to that. There is also the wh*le tradition that the novels ended with a marriage of the woman otherwise it was termed as a tragedy. And so most novelists had to change their endings so as to reflect a happier version of events. This tradition still continues to this day.
It is very rare that we do not want the girl to end up with the guy of her dreams. Something along the lines that romantic fulfillment is the ultimate happy ending that everyone is looking for. And marriage is most often succeded by the bold claim that "they lived happily ever after". It is very rarely that independence is seen as an admirable trait. Even today an unmarried person raises eyebrows in society. Why are they not married? There must be something wrong with them or sometimes that they must be extremely unhappy. But I have seen that people in marriages are sometimes equally if not infinitely more unhappy than people who live all alone.
Then why are we still preaching the lie that marriage is the ultimate destiny and everyone who thinks they aren't going for it, are either broken or will end up unhappy and alone? Its time we see things as clearly as we can, its time we stop judging people based on their choices.

Things I love to do as a vocation would never earn me money

I have come to the conclusion after searching for many internships online that there is only so much that I can be paid if I stick to what I love: writing. I love writing and I like writing on current issues because it makes me feel like I am writing out an opinion piece but more and more people are leaning towards social media marketing and copywriting instead of just plain opinion pieces. It has all become about what sells best.
More and more companies are hiring people who will dupe you into thinking they are the best brand with amazing quality products and the more I see and learn, the more I am against marketing. Marketing seems like a job that I am not made for. Yet, because it is the job that has the most demand, I keep getting internships that are of that field.
And there's money in it too. Of course, internships don't get you too much money but social media marketing jobs can pay you upto 15,000 a month if you are adept at the skills. And the jobs that interest me don't pay much. Yet, I take them on because I don't want to have a job that I hate before I even begin my career. I think there's a lot of time left for me to hate my job and talk badly about my boss and now is the time to have fun and enjoy. But there is still this fear that I am losing out on something. What do you think?

The drug problem in Bollywood Industry

Recently Kangana Ranaut went on a rant about the drug problem in Industry parties and many people were left shocked even though we are well aware of these activities. How many films and articles have to come out for us to believe that people abuse drugs even for the simplest of things?
It is more about dependence and power than anything else. There have been people who are so lonely that they cannot function without a shot of alcohol or a drug high. And it is about dependence and how an industry makes people powerless. Even though they have so much power, the glitz and glamour is only shiny from the outside. From the inside, it is extremely toxic and this toxicity has to be avoided or to be dived straight in. And people who are lucky enough to avoid being left out of the "IT crowd" and people who dive into it wondering it will be their card to fame, are usually left out in the open with nothing else to turn to. The industry pushes people into the cycle of this abuse.
The answer is not to take out the drug mafia, it is to take out the unhealthy toxicity, the narcissism, and the failure. But that is impossible. Every day thousands of lives are changed for better or for worse in Bollywood and we have no clue what happens to anyone. Nor those who end up on our film screens nor the ones who are lost in the lights.
The drug problem is not limited to this industry, the youth is obsessed with something that would warp the painful reality for them and that's the problem. the drugs don't make anything better, they just make it worse. And even if you know it, the pull is so strong that you are still interested in it.

My uncle is missing and there is no way to find him out

With COVID crisis worsening day by day, there is no hope for the ceonomy to recover. This led my uncle to take a train journey to Chennai for business. Even though we tried to stop him he insisted that his business is suffering because of all this and there I snothing we could do to stop him.
He went by a flight and he couldn't visit any of the people who we were in contact with because of quarantine. So he stayed in a hotel. In the first few days, we kept talking but eventually, there was no connection and we thought it was okay as long as aunt is in contact.
A few weeks went by and he didn't return any calls, my aunt rang us up frantically asking if we have heard from him. There was no connection so we declined but it left a sour taste in our mouth.
We tried to call the hotel but the hotel said our uncle had checked out. We tried to call the police and report him missing but there was nothing they could do. His phone was switched off since my aunt last called him.
No one knows where he went. We are praying for his safe return.

Why can't everyone just tell their truth instead of pretending?

I have so much to say about everything but I can't seem to find any words. I feel too much on some days and I think today is one of those days and I want to scream and shout and talk about things that are bothering me, at the same time I want to know that I am not as stupid and useless I feel today. And I know asking for validation from strangers online wouldn't make a difference if my brain goes into a self-hate spiral but at this point, I am extremely desperate for something to make sense. I feel extremely overwhelmed and extremely neglected. Like if there was a list of names you could read out from, you'd skip mine every time. Not because of spite or anything but just because I don't matter.
I want to make it eloquent and write amazing poetry about this and make it seem so beautiful that people relate and don't feel like I am making no sense, even when I am not. This might be the only draft here where I didn't edit anything. Usually, I read through my vents and decide certain feelings are too personal. But why are they personal? Why are we taught to keep it all in? Why can't everyone just open up and tell their stories? who are we trying to prove to that we are all better when we all have our own demons.
I wish I could see for myself that other people are hurting too so I didn't feel so alone in this.

Natural disasters coupled with pandemic are the worst

Even though all the pandemic issues, natural disasters haven't stopped. Back in May when we had exams, there was a cyclone on the way and we were scared because what will we do? There were no places to stay because most Government schools were converted into COVID facilities tents and so people in the cyclone regions were extremely scared as to where they should go. The Government was held helpless because of such trouble.
Luckily for us, the cyclone hit West Bengal. But unluckily for them, it brought widespread destruction and deaths. And maybe that's the issue, as a country and even the world we live in isn't prepared for destruction in their life that is caused by a natural disaster, it is obvious that a pandemic would have been tough on our everyday life. It always has been but when both of them are coupled, you can see how powerless we actually are in front of nature.
I hope to find something that solves all of this but I am convinced that this the new normal, a world fighting more battles than one all the time as it is so destroyed that it can't be repaired anymore.
We can only make systems that stay until there is something more powerful that can bl*w this away.

Wars seem extremely pointless and yet celebrated

Do you remember reading about the World Wars in school and how we celebrated those times as something essential and that changed us forever? Yes, it did change us forever because it introduced us to the horrible things that humans are capable of doing.
I remember the first time I came across anti-war sentiments was when I was in 11th grade. It was a poem by Wilfred Owen "Dulce et Decorum Est". Now, Dulce est Decorum est starts out by talking about the horrors of the war Owen suffered first hand. Fighting in the frontlines and then losing his life too soon. He talks about PTSD and how he lost all his friends and how helpless war made him and how he couldn't save people who were standing in front of him in the name of saving his country's pride. he ends it saying, wars are extremely pointless and just an agenda that has no backing behind it. The people who have to suffer are suffering.
It seems to be such a simple sentiment that we never understood at that time because how would we? Laying down your life for the country is always seen as a noble act that would warrant your place in heaven never considering the fact that millions of people on both sides lost their life because one man was mad enough to kill people based on something that they couldn't change and others who tried to show him that they were more powerful than him.
